Jack was born in Guernsey in 1986. He began to learn the trombone at the age of nine and within a year he was attending weekly rehearsals for the local Youth Brass Band. Performing standard brass band repertoire at such an early age developed Jack’s playing and by the age of sixteen he took the position of principle trombone in the Senior Brass Band.
During sixth form, Jack was asked to play Eb bass in the school wind band, orchestra and many of the Guernsey Music Centre ensembles and was fortunate enough to tour to Sydney, Australia with the Music Centre Symphony Orchestra.
Furthering his education at The University of Chichester, Jack studied trombone under Tom Lees, Richard Ward and Fraser Tannock. He was a member of the university orchestra, wind band and brass ensemble which enabled him to tour to Germany and France, where he had the opportunity to play in Disneyland Paris. Jack also played in the pit orchestra for Thoroughly Modern Millie and Return to the Forbidden Planet, at the Alexandra Theatre, Bognor Regis.
Jack is currently studying on the MMus course at Trinity College of Music, studying trombone under Roger Argente (RPO). He has played with the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra, Docklands Sinfonia, Northfleet Brass Band and numerous TCM performance projects.
Jack also played in the pit orchestra for Hello Dolly with the Mellow Dramatics theatre company, under the direction of an up-and-coming MD, Robert Murray, in Burton-on-Trent in 2008.
Jack aspires to continue his musical career once graduating from Trinity College of Music as a freelance musician.
